I'm still here
Still here, just haven't taken the time to update in too long. Some time ago my goal was to update twice a week. Maybe I should have made it twice a month and I'd be on track.
So I had a birthday and celebrated by househunting in Texas. I drove out on a Thursday, arrived on Friday, spent the weekend with Mike (including Mother's Day) and then Mike drove the car back to Houston. I flew back the night of my birthday (Monday). My mom was here in AZ with the kids and stayed awhile longer. Below: my first homemade Mother's Day Card and MTN finishing off my birthday cake.
MTN is now 2 years old! Where does the time go .... Here he is enjoying cake, his new tricycle, his chef outfit and new vacuum!
EMN finished up her preschool at the end of May and has talked about her teachers and friends every day since. We loved our experience at Word of Life and they did a wonderful job establishing a love of learning with her.
Mike is about half-way through his training in Houston. He and I will be meeting up in San Antonio next week to house hunt again. Here's hoping everything falls into place!
Move prep is slow since the kids keep me busy most of the time. They miss their dad a lot and so they require extra care and attention. Plus, we're all a bit sad to be leaving our friends and the longer we can delay, the easier it is on our emotions. But as July 15th draws closer, the moving prep needs to start so I'm working on it in non-obvious ways.

Summertime fun: Flying a kite, various splashparks around the area, a rare rain shower and a tea party with Daddy.

Whirlwind
Seems like it was just April and I was pondering where March went. Now it's May and I just can't keep up!! Obviously, we've been busy so here are a few photos representative of our recent weeks. (Not in any particular order or else it would take even longer ...)
Biggest news: We're moving! Mike and I took over a week and traveled to San Antonio, Texas, and Fort Wayne, Indiana to figure out where we wanted to move. We loved Fort Wayne but San Antonio won out for various reasons. Here is the outside of his new squadron building in San Antonio. He'll fly part-time for the guard unit there. More on his full-time job further down the page.
The kids were thrilled with their souvenirs and can't wait to be cowboys!
The pool is now open although it is still very cold. The kids don't mind! How cool does he look :)
This is MTN's favorite sleeping position.
The kids were thrilled to dress like Daddy for his fini-flight which was last Wednesday.
And there he is, getting ready to shut down engines for his last active duty flight. His last work day was Friday and tomorrow he leaves for training in Houston. He'll be the newest Continental Airline pilot and we are excited for the career change.
MTN has had a rather destructive streak the last week breaking lights, windchimes, coloring the walls, ripping pages out of books and finally, tatooing himself. What you don't see is the artwork on his arms and face. Lovely.
And this truly is lovely - moms dressed up and going out for Mother's Day Tea. Our MOMS Club chapter was disbanded (boo hiss to the morons running international - no forward thinking, open-mindedness or compromise to be found anywhere there) so we've started our own non-profit organization. This tea was the first outing of our new group and we're very excited. So now I'm a founding member of a non-profit group! I truly love the ladies in our group and I'm so glad we didn't let the short-sightedness of MOMS Club ruin our comraderie. Our group - SAHMS Offering Support, or SOS of Surprise - will continue to do wonderful things for our families and the community.
We'll the family is headed out to buy me a new laptop so I guess I better go!! Cheers!

April?!?
When did it get to be April?!? Here's a bit from March...
Spring Training - always fun. EMN got in on the action with Wiffle Ball. While Gama and Bompa were visiting, we attended three games including one with Goo, Chandler and Brett, who were swinging through Phoenix on a Spring Break trip. The weather was great and the games were fun - who could ask for more!
Hockey, again always fun. Attended the last Phoenix Coyotes home game last night. Too sad to talk about. Not only did they lose, but it may be awhile before we see them in action again. When Bompa and Gama were visiting, we took them to a game too. New fans!!
Easter happened in March. One pic of EMN putting flowers on the cross, and one of our happy family. We are standing near the church we attend - The Church at Litchfield Park. Easter Sunday was very enjoyable - a great service at church, a Spring Training game and a delicious meal if it's acceptable to critique one's own cooking :)

Gama, Bompa and the kiddos playing Candy Land. The Easter Bunny brought it for EMN and she's getting the hang of it. She loves board games and is unbelievably good at Memory.
A tremendous dinner at Quiessence (and multiple thanks to MOMS Club for the date night kid swap!). The food was beyond belief and truly satisifed my desire to have a Top Chef experience. The menu changes daily and uses local ingredients (within 4 hours of Phoenix) if at all possible. We had the six course tasting menu with suggested wine pairings and it was phenomenal. I also got to try pork belly for the first time and I actually liked it! The desserts were to die for too. The evening was the perfect way to cap off a great week with Gama and Bompa. 
And lastly, a few knit items and my beautiful bougainvillea (not in that order). The gloves for EMN are a duplicate of ones I made for myself, just scaled down for her and she loved wearing them at the hockey game last night. Me too for that matter! I can still get popcorn in my mouth and stay warm. Bonus! The pattern is Hooray for Me Gloves. Then there is the Hanami stole I am working on using Sundara Silk Lace Yarn - a total splurge but worth it. The colorway is Pink Porcelain over Chiffon and it is heavenly to work with.
That's about it for now. I'm still stunned it's April already. Maybe next post will be my New Years Resolutions because that's about where my brain is at! If all goes well, Mike starts training for his new job in May and then we'll move sometime after that. For so long it's been "in the future" that it only recently caught me by surprise to realize we are within weeks of everything happening! It's exciting but for some reason it didn't all click until I turned the calendar on Tuesday. Tonight is his going away party for the Air Force. Wow. It's been quite a journey and the adventure continues as we open new chapters of our lives.

So the benefit of not posting often is that when I do post, I have a lot to say!
EMN and MTN had some friends do a modified slumber party a few weeks ago. Their friends stayed until after 10 pm and they all had a ton of fun!
I finished my first sweater!! It's made from alpaca that I bought at Woodstock Wool Company while back in NY for Christmas. Phoebe helped me pick it out and the pattern is from Last Minute Knitted Gifts - the hourglass sweater.
I've worn it as often as possible considering the warm temperatures here and it feels like a big comfy sweatshirt. I love it and I'm proud that it's done! Sorry for the headless photo - I wasn't smiling and it wasn't my best look.
Ok, a few of EMN. Recently she started to love all things girly and she's particularly fond of practicing her moves (her words. She also loves being a MOMS Club kid and nearly cried when I showed her the shirts we had made.
Last week we had a lovely visit with our friends the Tysons. They were staying at the Arizona Biltmore for the week and invited us to play in the pools. We LOVED it! The water slide was a great hit.
MTN is now officially sleeping in a big boy bed! He's adjusted to the freedom quite quickly and actually has done fairly well in the five days since we've moved him. He isn't sleeping as much as he used to but you can tell he's pretty proud. We are too!
And finally, a few from the Easter Egg hunt today. Another fantastic MOMS Club event!
